The Arizona Coyotes are officially on their way to Salt Lake City. The NHL Board of Governors voted unanimously on Thursday to approve the Coyotes' relocation to Utah's capital.
The relocation saga, which has been in the works for several years, finally reached its conclusion with the Board of Governors' vote. The Coyotes, who have called Arizona home since 1996, played their final game in the state on Wednesday, a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at the 5,000-seat Mullett Arena in Arizona.
The National Hockey League has officially relocated the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the 2024-25 season. The news caps a furious week that saw the Coyotes and the NHL scrambling to find a new home for the team after the City of Glendale opted out of its lease agreement for Gila River Arena.
