Host of long-running quiz show quits after 12 years

'Time to pass on the poisoned chalice'

Anne Robinson has quit as the host of Weakest Link after 12 years. The 77-year-old presenter announced her decision in an interview with The Sun newspaper on Tuesday.

"I have decided to leave Weakest Link. It's time to pass on the poisoned chalice to someone else," she said.

Robinson has been the face of Weakest Link since it launched in 2000. The show has been a huge success, winning numerous awards and spawning spin-offs in other countries.

Robinson's trademark waspish wit and no-nonsense style have made her one of the most recognisable and popular TV presenters in the UK.

Her catchphrase "You are the weakest link. Goodbye" has become one of the most iconic in television history.

Robinson said that she was proud of her time on Weakest Link but that it was time for a change.

"I've had a lot of fun doing Weakest Link, but it's time to move on," she said.

"I'm not sure what I'm going to do next, but I'm sure it will be something just as challenging and rewarding." Weakest Link is set to continue without Robinson. The BBC has not yet announced who will replace her.
