Early Life and Career

Brian Connolly was born in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, on October 5, 1945. He began his music career in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of several local bands before joining The Sweet in 1968.

The Sweet Years

The Sweet rose to fame in the early 1970s with a string of hit singles, including "Block Buster!" and "Ballroom Blitz." Connolly's distinctive voice and flamboyant stage persona made him a fan favorite. He was also known for his songwriting contributions, such as the hit "Fox on the Run."

Later Career and Passing

Connolly left The Sweet in 1979 and embarked on a solo career. He released several albums but failed to achieve the same level of success as he had with his former band. In the 1980s, he struggled with alcohol and drug addiction, which affected his health and career.

In 1997, Connolly died at the age of 51 due to liver failure. He is remembered as a talented singer-songwriter who left a lasting legacy in the world of glam rock.
